Happy Anniversary!!!!!!

CSLI celebrated its 15th year in Vancouver. To celebrate, we had the CSLI Scavenger Hunt Competition, a Japanese traditional performance, and a very special toast and presentation with some moving speeches, not to mention delicious cake for all the students to enjoy! For the last 15 years, CSLI has been uniting the world with English. Students have had the chance, not only to improve their English, but also to widen their perspectives and make many new friendships that still continue to this day. Additionally, CSLI has been a major donor to many diverse charities including helping a village in Sri Lanka to rebuild a hospital, school, and community center, the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research, and sponsoring children all over the world to receive an education. A heart-felt thanks to Lawrence and Lori-Ann for birthing a school where you are not only a student but part of a family. Please check our website for our latest promotions! Come and study with us! Join our CSLI family for years to come!
Find the Hunter in You: CSLI Scavenger Hunt

Our contest for the month of September helped get everyone involved in celebrating the 15th year of our great school! Students had two days to complete a two-page questionnaire regarding all kinds of interesting information about CSLI - past and present. The answers could be found in various places throughout the school, by asking staff and teachers, or by using the internet. Congratulations to our top three winners:

1st Place: Karina Doedel (Germany)
2nd Place: Sven Patzer (Germany)
3rd Place: DaMi Song (Korea)

The next contest is a Spelling Bee contest, so get the ball rolling on your preparation!
Graduation Party goes to Tinsel Town

Students and teachers alike were excited when they were able to choose a movie to watch at the graduation party at the end of September. Graduation Certificates were awarded to all the graduating students, and the best student in each class was awarded a medal to recognize their achievement! After feasting on the ever-popular hotdog lunch, everyone went to the nearby theatre to enjoy watching a movie for FREE!!!!!

The Student of the Month award, celebrating outstanding academic performance and extracurricular participation, went to Yasuhiro Take from Japan - he wins a 4-week scholarship to CSLI. Congratulations!.

Run For Fun and A Great Cause

The 25th Annual Terry Fox Run took place on September 18th in memory of a heroic young Canadian who sought to raise money and awareness to fight cancer before he died. CSLI had our usual determined team of runners (and a cyclist!) who helped to contribute to the cause. At the school, we held various fund-raising activities to add to our totals, and bought lots of raffle tickets as a contribution to the fundraising. The sun broke through the clouds moments before the race started, and it was a marvelous event. The Terry Fox Run takes place internationally every September, so you can participate in your country too and strengthen your connection to one of Canada's great heroes while helping sick people all over the world!

Ice Skating, Vancouver Film Festival and SCARY HALLOWEEN

Our Friday activities are shifting with the seasons. September's activities included some summer time fun such as hiking in Deep Cove and roller blading or biking in Stanley Park, as well as various indoor activities such as jewelry making class, salsa dancing class, and dessert making class. There are always academic classes available on Fridays, and while we will continue to offer academic classes in October, we are also working with the festivals and holidays taking place in Vancouver. Therefore, October will include Ice Skating (it's not that cold yet, but we're getting ready) and Vancouver Film Festival outings. Halloween is coming up at the end of the month, and before our Halloween Graduation party, we have such activities as pumpkin picking, costume making, and Jack o' Lantern carving!
